Tummy bugs and holes

Arrgh I hate tummy bugs. The dreaded bug hit my house on Sunday, awful. I went to bed early with watery sounds going on in my abdomen. I knew it wasn’t good. I felt ill. I asked hubby to get me a bucket in case. Wow was I ill, it didn’t last for long but it seemed to come from all orifices at once. My 9 year old also was sick and my husband had runny bottom. Blurgh.

Back at work today, still a bit pale and shakey, but hey I am here.

The other news is that after 3 weeks of no hair straighteners – my GHDs started to make unusual crackly noises, I now have a brand new set, so no more big boofy crazy hair. I can feel like a tidy well presented person again. I had to resort to wearing a head scarf in the weekend as my hair was so so scarey and out of control. I have enough hair on my head for about 10 people.

Last week while strolling around my back lawn I found what looked like a rock sticking out of the lawn. I alerted hubby who informed me it is not a rock but the end of an old clothes line pole, so we started digging and dug up a huge mound of concrete. It was far too big to dig up so my Dad the retired civil engineer suggested make the hole bigger and lie it down the re bury. Oh so sensible. Mean while the children were in hole heaven, they brought out their toys, they wore their goggles so dust and dirt wouldn’t go in their eyes and they climbed in that hole and they helped dig. They were so disappointed to find that Michael had filled the hole in later int he day. So disappointed that they dug the hole again, then they filled it with water and made a swimming pool. Then they floated things in it, they jumped in it and then walked dirt all through the house. But I am happy that they are being creative and that they are playing outside, not stuck inside watching the tele or playing computer games.

The laughter and memories made at Brownie camp

Well it is now Wednesday and I am slowly getting over my weekend. The long weekend for me involved Girlguide Camp at Tatum park just south of Levin. There were 700 girls at this camp, ranging in age from 5 to 17. It was an amazing couple of days, lots of activities, laughter, food, talking, and memories made. We all got home happy but shattered. The girls were mostly great, some were very quirly and funny, others less so.

I now look forward to jamboree in Rotorua in 2012.

My husband does a great job while I am away, the fact they have weetbix for dinner is funny, the fact that no washing got folded is understandable but leaving a child home alone for 20 minutes is not okay, nor is taking a child in the car with no car seat. Grrr, did he do this so I won’t go away again? Is it a man’s way of saying “If you leave me alone with my children I will misbehave – don’t leave me alone”. I must note my brother is also in trouble as it was him driving the car. He got a sever telling off, i told him I expect a lot more of him. Being a Brownie leader has made me stern.

On a brighter note I went to my friends shoe opening in Auckland on Thursday night and saw and tried on all the shoes. She now has her website up and running:

www.uniquesoles.co.nz

On a different subject I have a little card holder on my desk with pretty cards with uplifting comments, I love it. Today it says:

We may not have it all together, but together we have it all.

I will leave you with that thought….Happy Wednesday!

Wicked Weather Wednesday

Today, I have my beautiful pink and red shoes on, they are so comfortable, I also have a scarf with pink and red coloured flowers on it, to match my shoes. Stylish!

I got an i-pad for my birthday and I LOVE it! it is everything I wanted it to be and takes me one step closer to my desired fabulous state.

The next step is to start doiong regular execise, sigh, it makes me feel exhauseted just thinking about it. This morning I woke to beautiful weather and I though “right pack the walking shoes and go out for a walk at lunch time” but then I got tired and forgot to pack my walking shoes. I don’t want to wear out my beautiful new pink and red shoes by going walking in them.

Tomorrow, I will bring my walking shoes.

Guilty Tired Friday

Oh, it has been a long week. Madeline who is 2 and a half, is having very dramatic nightmares and wakes up screaming, normally it is dinosaurs, but last night it was dolphins. We have my parents staying at the moment looking after the children, so the three children are sharing a bedroom. After a nigthmare, Madeline needs to be with one of her parents, so I left her with Michael, I got out of bed and finished the night in her bed.

Ella has a cold at the moment and a sore bottom, the sore bottom is from netball school holiday programme on Wednesaday, she didn’t go yesterday because of her cold, she didn’t go again today as she is still unwell, and all she wants is her Mummy – thats me!

James had a sleep over at Liam’s (his cousin) on Wednesday night and came home tired and wanting his Mummy – that’s me again! He cried last night when Michael (husband) and I said we were going out on Friday night and then when I told him I am going away Saturday night for a girls night in the Wairarapa, poor wee lad. He perked up though when he learnt he was allowed Hells Pizza for dinner with Nana and Grandad.

So Michael and I are hosting one og his customer’s tonight at the Top Shop awards at the Duxton hotel, it is a very posh event and quite frankly I am not in the mood, but somewhere I need to muster up the energy and ability to engage in stimulating conversation. Hmmm maybe a pain au chocolate from Bordeaux bakery may help me revive….

Also to be decided today is whether I deserve and can afford an i-pad for my birthday. Well actually I do deserve it, just as much as i deserved my new shoes, but unfortunatly it may mean eating rice and baked beans for a few weeks to pay for the i-pad, but hey that is probably worth it.

It is a tough decision but I am pretty sure we will not regret purchasing it.

I used to be indecisive but now I am not so sure…

Hello world!

I like to write, I write articles for our little local Plunket Newsletter. I write anonymously to protect my children. No body wants to know that they have a slightly deranged Mother. A number of people read the article and realised it was me who wrote them and they have suggested I write a blog – so here I am.

I am worried that I could be boring, mundane or worse still depressing. As a blog writer I want to be funny and clever and fabulous. I guess as a writer I can be because you the reader doesn’t know the real me.

So to be fabulous I am making some changes in my life.

The first step is new shoes, a friend of mine is importing and selling Fleuvog shoes, so I have bought 2 x pairs from her. The newest pair are red and pink and they are fantastic.

My friend calls herself the director of gorgeoness. My husband looked at her newly created business card and in a very male way pointed out the gorgeoness is not a real word – it has been misspelt – sigh.

Anyway the misspelling detracted from my personal mission of being fabulous and tottally left my new shoe “high” falling flat and deflated – all because my friend’s business card had a spelling mistake.

But this morning, I was all dressed and ready for work and my darling Ella who is almost 9, said “Mummy your shoes are cool”. whew that shoe high is coming back! She then asked if she could have a pair, I muttered something about not having them in her size and walked away. If I was to buy her a pair of all my fabulous shoes I would personally bankrupt my family. She can have some sensible but nice shoes from Bay shoes.

The first pair of shoes I bought off my friend are an orangy brown coulour and they are also stunning. I was so excited to buy them, I walked around the office and showed everyone. They were unimpressed and did not appreciate them, I told them that they were great shoes – they still didn’t care. That is one of the perils of working in an all male environment – more on that later.

So anyway with 2 x new pairs of shoes and the spring weather and a new job, I am well on my way to being fabulous.

I now need to e-mail my friend and tell her about the spelling mistake on her business card.
